Atelier Woodstock — The art of finding solutions

Some projects don’t fit the usual boxes. Unusual dimensions, technical constraints, original wishes or spaces to transform: these are precisely the situations in which Atelier Woodstock shows the full extent of its expertise.

Timber framing, joinery, masonry, plasterwork and tadelakt: Atelier Woodstock brings together complementary skills to devise original fittings and creations. These craftspeople combine experience, creativity and practical sense, letting wood, mineral materials and different finishes work together. From Tiny Houses to one-of-a-kind structures, they look for the combination of materials and techniques that suits the intended uses, the character of the place and the constraints of the project.

Wood, ideas and more than one string to their bow

At Les Emibois, Atelier Woodstock brings timber framing, joinery, masonry and plasterwork together, from roughcast render to tadelakt. Moving from a timber structure to an interior to be fitted out, or from a compact dwelling to an outdoor structure, means changing scale and looking at each project with fresh eyes. Their versatility makes it possible to combine materials rather than limit ideas to a single technique.

Timber-frame construction: giving the project substance

Timber-frame construction is part of the workshop’s activities. From working the structure to putting it in place, Woodstock brings its timber-framing expertise to the structures entrusted to it. Construction choices are made according to the project, its use and its technical constraints.

Tiny Houses, traditional wooden wagons and vans: doing a lot with little space

In a Tiny House, a traditional wooden wagon or a van, every cubic metre counts. The uses have to be thought through together, the space needed for daily life set aside, and a way found to make comfort and available room coexist. These creations and fit-outs call for inventing layouts that could not simply be transposed from one place to another.

Interior creations: starting from how people live in a space

A bespoke piece of furniture or an interior fit-out starts with a simple question: what would you like to be able to do here? The dimensions, habits and character of the place then guide the work. Joinery, masonry, plasterwork or tadelakt offer complementary possibilities: the workshop can combine wood, mineral surfaces and finishes to make a space more practical, more personal and more pleasant to live in.

Outdoors too, thinking outside the box

Woodstock’s activities extend to outdoor fittings and special projects. Its website also features ACD garden greenhouses and Jura limestone fountains: a diversity that reflects a curious workshop whose playground does not stop at the front door.

When a constraint sparks an idea

An unusual angle, a volume that is hard to use, a wish unlike any other: not everything can be solved with a catalogue reference. Sometimes you need to take the time to observe, to talk, and to consider a different way of doing things.

It is this willingness to think differently that Delibra appreciates in Woodstock. Their versatility makes it possible to cross-fertilise ideas and skills; their practical sense helps turn an intention into a concrete answer. Ingenuity is not an end in itself here: it serves a result that is fitting, useful and suited to the people who will use it. The turquoise bathroom pictured below illustrates this approach: Atelier Woodstock carried out the entire project, from the walls to the bespoke furniture and the tadelakt finishes.

Delibra and Woodstock: each their own trade, one shared project

Delibra handles the design and support of projects according to the mandate entrusted to it. This may include studies, plans, permit procedures, planning or coordination of the parties involved.

Atelier Woodstock handles the fabrication and execution of the works entrusted to it. Its experience of the material and of putting it into practice informs the discussion on which solutions to adopt.

This complementarity links the intentions of the project to the reality of how it is made. The role and services of each party are specified according to the mandate. The works produced by Woodstock are credited to Woodstock; Delibra’s involvement is mentioned only when it corresponds to an actual contribution.
